How to Use Jeera Rice

Ingredients (for 2 servings)

1 cup Basmati Rice
2 cups Water
1 tbsp Ghee or Oil
1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
1 Bay Leaf (optional)
1–2 Cloves (optional)
Salt to taste

Method

Step 1: Cook the Rice

Wash and soak basmati rice for 20–30 minutes.
Boil 2 cups of water, add soaked rice and a pinch of salt.
Cook until soft and fluffy. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Tempering

Heat ghee/oil in a pan.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
(Optional) Add bay leaf and cloves for aroma.
Add the cooked rice and mix gently.
Cover and steam on low flame for 2 minutes. Serve hot.
