How to Use Nei Kichadi Rice
Nei Kichadi / Pongal Style Cooking Method
Ingredients:
1 cup Nei Kichadi Rice
½ cup split yellow moong dal (optional, for pongal)
4–5 cups water
Salt to taste
2–3 tsp ghee
Optional: Cumin seeds, black pepper, ginger, curry leaves
Instructions:
Rinse rice and dal together 2–3 times.
Soak for 15–20 minutes for softer texture.
In a pressure cooker or pot, add rice, dal, water, and salt.
Cook for 4–5 whistles in a pressure cooker or simmer until soft in an open pot.
Once done, add ghee and tempering (if using). Stir and serve hot.
Plain Rice Method
Ingredients:
1 cup Nei Kichadi Rice
2.5 to 3 cups water
Salt (optional)
Steps:
Rinse and optionally soak rice.
Add rice and water to a pot or pressure cooker.
Cook until rice is soft and slightly sticky.
Fluff gently and serve with curry or side dishes.
